Venice Pass Guide 2026

The Venice passes compared

Four main passes from two providers. All of them cover the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's Basilica — the differences are in module choice, mobility and flexibility.

Honestly

The Tiqets Venice Pass is rated 4.0 out of 5 stars (1,635 reviews). Travellers praise the modular flexibility; the recurring criticism is that the modules are tightly coupled in time and the slots don't always line up neatly.
The Venice Museum Pass (3.9 / 805 reviews) is an official product of the city of Venice — solidly rated, but without the comfort layer of the commercial passes. What travellers miss: a clear skip-the-line at the Doge's Palace, and consistent opening hours at the smaller museums.
The Vaporetto Pass is Venice's most-booked mobility ticket with 22,856 reviews at 4.5 out of 5 stars — but the same reviews keep mentioning how crowded the vaporetti get in high season. Plan rides early in the morning or after 8 pm.

Worth it?

Is a Venice pass worth it — for the money or the time?

Strictly on price, a pass doesn't pay off for everyone: if all you want is the Doge's Palace, a single ticket is cheaper. The real win is time — skip-the-line at St. Mark's, one pass for 11 civic museums instead of separate tickets, and a pre-booked gondola ride instead of haggling at the canal. If in 2–3 days you combine the Doge's Palace, St. Mark's and at least one gondola or boat tour, the pass saves money too.

Know before you go

Doge's Palace timed entry & crowd avoidance

The Doge's Palace runs on a fixed time slot. With a pass, your slot is assigned at booking — check the exact time on your voucher. In summer, St. Mark's Square is most crowded between 10 am and 2 pm; early morning (8 am) or late afternoon (from 4 pm) cuts wait times sharply. St. Mark's Basilica has its own separate timed entry — don't schedule the two back-to-back.

Getting in & the vaporetto in Venice

From Marco Polo airport, take the Alilaguna waterbus or the ATVO bus to Piazzale Roma — then vaporetto line 1 or 2 to St. Mark's Square. A vaporetto pass (24 h, 48 h or 72 h) pays off as soon as you take more than 2–3 rides a day or head out to Murano/Burano. The Turbopass Flex Pass lets you fold a vaporetto ticket into the pass; with the City Pass it's an optional upgrade.

Venice Museum Pass ★★★★☆ 4,0 · Based on 817 reviews (GetYourGuide)
Anna L. · Deutschland 05/2026
★★★★★

Tom B. · UK 03/2026
★★★★★

Easy redemption — QR-Code aufs Handy, am Eingang gescannt, fertig. Dogenpalast-Audioguide war separat (nicht im Pass enthalten).

Tiqets Venice Pass ★★★★☆ 4,0 · Based on 1.635 reviews (Tiqets)

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is a Venice pass worth it at all?
It depends on what you want to do in Venice. If you only want to see the Doge's Palace, a single ticket is cheaper. Once you combine the Doge's Palace, St. Mark's, at least one civic museum and a gondola or boat tour, a pass usually saves money — and more importantly time, thanks to skip-the-line entry at St. Mark's Square.
What's the difference between Turbopass City and Tiqets Venice Pass?
The Venice City Pass is a classic all-in pass: Doge's Palace, St. Mark's admission, 11 civic museums, gondola ride and Murano/Burano boat tour are all included — the headline price covers the whole package. With the Tiqets Venice Pass you pick one preferred option per module (e.g. St. Mark's OR Campanile, gondola OR boat tour) — more flexible, but less content for the same price. Rule of thumb: many highlights = Turbopass, targeted picks = Tiqets.
What is the St. Mark's Square Pass and when is it worth it?
The Tiqets St. Mark's Square Pass is a compact 3-module pass specifically for 1–2 days around St. Mark's Square: Doge's Palace (optionally incl. Museum Pass), St. Mark's Basilica or Campanile and Ca' Rezzonico Museum. If your Venice stay is short and you focus on St. Mark's, it's much cheaper than the larger Venice Pass — yet still contains the most important spots.
Can I cancel a pass?
For the Turbopass City Pass, Turbopass terms include a flat per-pass cancellation fee (only possible while unused and no tickets/reservations have been issued). For the Turbopass Flex Pass: no attraction picked yet = full refund; partially reserved = pro-rata refund; fully reserved = no refund. The Tiqets passes (Venice Pass and St. Mark's Square Pass) are non-refundable because time slots are reserved. For the Venice Museum Pass and the Vaporetto Pass via GetYourGuide: free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance.
How long is the Turbopass Flex Pass valid?
The Flex Pass is valid 30 days from activation. At checkout you set how many attractions you want to book (between 2 and 7). Which specific ones, you decide later flexibly in the digital pass — but once chosen they can't be changed. Ideal for selective travellers or longer stays.
Is the vaporetto included in the pass?
With the Turbopass Flex Pass you can pick the vaporetto ticket as one of your attractions. With the Turbopass City Pass it's an optional add-on (tiered by pass duration). The Tiqets passes do not include vaporetto — for those, we recommend the separate vaporetto pass via GetYourGuide.
Do I need an extra Venice Museum Pass?
If you book the Venice City Pass: no. The City Pass already includes all 11 civic museums and matches the Museum Pass Plus. If you book Tiqets passes and set the Doge's Palace module to "Doge's Palace & Venice Museums Pass", the Museum Pass is included there. The separate Venice Museum Pass (Standard and Plus variant) only makes sense if you don't book a commercial pass.
Are the passes available instantly?
Yes. Every pass is fully digital: you receive the voucher straight to your phone and can use it immediately. For the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's a time slot is assigned — you'll see this in the respective provider's booking flow.
Do I pay more by booking via VenicePasses.com?
No. You book directly with the respective provider at the normal price. When you book through our links we earn a commission — at no extra cost to you.
